I don't think that there should be a law suit against it. the moment of silence is just a moment. during that moment its not holding up your hole day, and my first period class doesn't even know about it. having the moment of silence does not harm anyone and its not making people pray, its just giving a moment to reflect. why we have this moment is a hole another issue because i don't understand the reasoning behind it.

I think the moment of silence is appropriate and legit. Some people may argue that it's a bad thing, but theres simply nothing wrong about it. it's not praying, it's just a silent thought. It could simply even be me saying to myself "I hope I do good on my test today!" There is nothing wrong with it, and some teachers do not even enforce it.

I completely disagree with the first two posts. I understand how the law is written like how it says that it is for reflection and it has NOTHING to do with religion. But just I see this as the religious legislators masking their intentions. I understand that few teachers actually enforce it, but I still don't like to be told what to do with my time. I'll "reflect" on my own, thank you. That atheist guy won in Buffalo Grove, hopefully he can grab some more national coverage.

Arguing that a moment of silence should be implemented because there is nothing wrong with it is insufficient. You need to prove why we should go from nothing (no moment of silence) to something (yes moment of silence). A mandated moment for reflection or silence does not offer any tangible benefits. If reflection or silence is ever going to help you, it's not going to be because a law gave you the chance to do it. The government has no business in giving or withholding that opportunity. But if you're rushed enough that you can't find a few minutes to reflect on your own time, then I think that is a problem in itself.

i think the moment of silence is appropriate for certain times, but i don't think there should be a lawsuit for the moment of silence. If people really believe in the moment of silence they can do so, but i don't think it goes for everyone.
