Mess 'o New Orleans...

Hurricane Katrina has devastated New Orleans and much of the Gulf Coast. What should government's role be in recovery efforts? Think in terms of local, state, and federal governments. What should we do as citizens on the outside?

I somewhat agree to Morgan's, and I understand she meant that government should do what ever they can to help the victims who are still the disaster areas. Definitely the government should try their best and spend lots of money to clean up, but didn't we spend a lot of money fighting Iraq, and does our government still have money left? Many people instead of hoping to depend on our own government, they are leaning towards to the foreign countries for help. I saw on the CNN news this afternoon, random citizens in different states complained that we helped other countries when they are in need, but where are these countries when US is in trouble. I think we can't really rely on others, and we can't force them to come help, so what we as citizens can do is donation and persuade and advertise the people around us to donate. Like Imby said, "it should be our moral duties as humans to give".

**Just a note from BOUCH -
I went ahead and donated the $30 we raised in both AP Gov't classes yesterday to the American Red Cross. I did this by credit card so they would get the $$ right away. Thanks so much to all who contributed!!
